One of my favorite stops on our recent New York trip was the new flagship Kate Spade store on 5th Ave. between 20th and 21st. We stood outside forever just capturing the perfectly branded window displays and signature entry stripe that encourages pedestrians to enter the store.
It was even better inside! In the entry, the signature stripe ran down wall through the space and even up to the the window displays and out the front door. In the center of the room, the stripe ran in a different direction to make a faux area rug.
There were many pleasant surprises throughout the space. I loved the lifestyle narrative that describes the customer perfectly and comes to life with 3D elements. The hand-drawn light switch on the wall, and the vintage props add a fun and whimsical touch. The typewriter/tweet-writer uses old school elements to support new social media technology. So cool.
This Kate Spade store is a combination of classic simplicity with whimsical fun.
