Probably no city boasts more restaurants per capita than San Francisco. That said, there is usually no shortage of exotic olfactory stimulation in every neighborhood. So I was bit surprised (but decidedly happy) when my nose caught the undeniable scent of grilled hamburgers right on Market Street. Like the burger-hound I am, I followed the scent to a hip little enclave appropriately called Super Duper.

So what made Super Duper so super? Quality ingredients, local sourcing and a great playful attitude. They serve 100% Niman Ranch (Bay Area based ranch that raises livestock humanely and sustainably) all-natural beef burgers that are made fresh daily. Free-range chicken sandwiches come paired with locally grown vegetables. Even the milkshakes—deliciously creamy—are made from organic milk and cream sourced from local dairies.

The environment has a modern yet playful feel through the use of wood textures, geometric patterns and graphic illustrations.

Super Duper’s back-to-basics philosophy is graphically expressed by a series of simple, retro-inspired artwork, in which the words “organic,” “farm fresh” and “wholesome” get the message across.

The nostalgic-mixed-with-modern décor used warm wood planking, cool aluminum and a cow that humorously reflects on the various cuts of meat with different wood grained puzzle pieces.

Food is served on retro-style aluminum trays and, to mirror Super Duper’s sustainable philosophy, all orders are packed in compostable paper.

Don’t just take my word for it. Daily Candy, The Hamblogger, Thrillest and many more have all given rave reviews to Super Duper. Follow Super Duper on Facebook or stop in the next time you’re in San Francisco. I know I will.
