It’s been raining, I mean pouring, for days in Tampa. What’s a girl to do but to go shopping! I don’t want to venture too far off, so I head towards the local Citrus Park Town Center Mall. As I dry myself off and walk the mall, I notice two cool skater boys walking into a store called CCS. I have never heard of CCS and since I am a very curious person, I follow them in!
I enter a world I know nothing about, but am pleasantly surprised (or should I say stoked!) to be surrounded by skateboards presented like artwork. Hung vertically from the ceiling-like room dividers, hung horizontally on the back wall like a cool graffiti mural; each skateboard design is better than the next! Each design is one-of-a-kind. WOW… I am seriously considering buying one (not to skate with, of course… to hang on my wall!).
CCS has apparel, shoes, accessories, head phones, watches and, yes, skateboards too. They have brands like Nike SB, DC, Enjoi, Fallen, Emerica, Vans (just to name a few) and amazing graphic tees that will keep you “fresh.”
The environment is cool and simple with bamboo nesting tables, concrete floors, plywood and rubber benches and a perforated metal shoe wall. A low metal floor bar where you can test your new board is always available. Even the fitting rooms have special “hooks“ made of skateboard parts!
As I was leaving the store, the two skater boys (whom I’d followed in) “posed“ for me and said they couldn’t wait for the rain to stop, and I said I couldn’t either. Though I’m kind of glad for the deluge or I would never have discovered this new awesome store!
