As Chute Gerdeman’s resident "Material Girl", Katie Clements is involved in all retail projects providing design support as a materials and color expert. She utilizes her vast knowledge and extensive library to present clients with well-considered selections for fabric, carpet, tile, wallcovering, lighting, furniture, and any other special project features.This summer seems to have been hotter than ever! Don’t we all need a break from the heat? This issue’s top five materials definitely give us the respite we’ve been looking for. Nothing is more refreshing than crisp, clean white.
Illuminated Planters
These oversized planters make a statement with their excessive scale, and their glowing white finish really makes an impact in dark, moody environments. The polyethylene is recyclable, and compact fluorescent bulbs are used for a more sustainable option.

Task Chair

It can be difficult to get a crisp white porcelain tile, but there are lots of options available from Crossville. The patterns are unique with several solid whites available such as the Powdered Sugar color. My favorite printed patterns are the City Garden and Satin Sheets.

Elitis has many beautiful wallcovering collections, but my favorites are the tone on tone whites. From vinyl to flocked to large scale graphics, there are items to fit every design need. Serpentine is a tone on tone white that looks like ribbons moving gracefully along the wall.
