“More important than visual anchors and specific color schemes is the changing dynamic of pet stores to be social, and to recognize the place of the pet in family life,” says Joanna Felder, a noted expert on retail design. “It's about looking at pet ownership as more than just maintenance.”
Danier is one of North America’s leading vertically integrated designers, manufacturers and retailers of quality leather apparel and accessories. The company partnered with Ohio-based design firm Chute Gerdeman in 2011 to develop a new store design that engages the senses and improves the overall customer experience.
Checkers/Rally’s, the nation’s largest double drive-thru chain, unveiled a new store prototype that updates the look of the building and loses the iconic second drive-thru window in favor of a covered seating area.
The new prototype is the brainchild of Chute Gerdeman, a strategic brand and design firm based in Columbus, Ohio.
Forecasting the future has always been a murky business, but in a time of rapid technological and economic change, the future of retail remains a big question mark to many.
Small, independent stores have been at the vanguard of blurring traditional categories. In order to survive and attract more wealthy consumers, boutiques have forged new roles for themselves, said Joanna Felder at the “When Visual Creativity Trumps Budget: What Indie Retailers Can Teach Big Brands” seminar.
