“Dont Forget Your Boots” |
 |
|
Lehigh Outfitters came to Chute Gerdeman Retail with a sizeable “to do” list: Do promote Lehigh Outfitters as the home of well-regarded, licensed, footwear and apparel brands; Do make ours a store people will want to shop; and Do increase our customer base to include more women.
Many customers were already familiar with the Lehigh Safety Shoe Company, but primarily for its steel toe work boots. Lehigh Outfitters would be the home of work boots as well as footwear and apparel for hiking, hunting, and other outdoor pursuits. “Gear for Work and Weekends,” is the Lehigh Outfitters tagline and the new space needed to speak to a variety of customers and incorporate a range of products.
The storefront features the brands new identity complete with Lehighs signature orange boot print to let everyone know theres more to Lehigh Outfitters than steel toe work boots. Inside, a warm and neutral palette is accented with pops of blue and orange to create a unique, yet inviting, place to shop.

A peg and grid wall system creates outfitting opportunities while cinderblocks and plywood pallets are used to tell merchandising stories. The “workshop” feel of the store is enhanced with graphics printed directly onto the pallets and a rustic-looking wood floor.
The new space includes fixtures that were repurposed wherever possible and large-scale lifestyle graphics featuring updated photography to show the product “in action.” Real pallets are mounted off of the wall showcasing product that is secured with bungee cords.
A plywood soffit inscribed, “Dont Forget Your Boots,” covers the back wall so returning customers know exactly where to find their favorite footwear. The rest of the store is filled with merchandise that focuses on telling the new Lehigh Outfitters story—as a retailer that can outfit its customers for any adventure.
Cobalt blue shelves float off the back wall serving as a backdrop of color for the rustic boots and shoes.
By utilizing a variety of authentic materials in creative ways and incorporating a warm, neutral palette, the new Lehigh Outfitters appeals to shoppers looking for shoes and apparel for both work and play.
Oh, and that “to do” list? Consider it done!
