CG’s Thought Leaders

CG’s Thought Leaders

Since Chute Gerdeman Retail’s beginning in 1989, its members have played active roles in industry organizations such as the Institute of Store Planners (ISP) and the National Association for Store Fixture Manufacturers (NASFM).

The leaders of the design firm are continually invited and voted to hold board member and presidential positions of these organizations. They are repeatedly asked to share their knowledge by speaking at events and participating in and being published in industry-specific magazines.

Brian Shafley, Chute Gerdeman’s president, was elected by his peers to hold the presidential spot in the ISP’s Ohio Chapter. His role is to organize chapter meetings and fulfill membership goals for one of ISP’s largest regional chapters. Playing an active role in industry publications, he is a member of the VM+SD Editorial Advisory Board. Brian has most recently been invited to speak at the International Retail Design Conference in September in a session entitled “Spotlight on Lighting Trends.”

Denny Gerdeman is widely regarded by the retail industry as a thought leader. He is a member and past president of the ISP Ohio chapter. Denny serves on the Board of Directors for The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) and has served on the Board of Directors for NASFM. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for DDI, providing industry guidance and participating in events such as the DDI Forum. Denny has been invited to speak at an annual meeting for Starbucks in Seattle on June 26, 2007. He will be presenting on the topic, Color, Shape, and Scale at an offsite location for Starbucks’ worldwide design managers. It is expected that 300-400 people will attend the three day conference.

George Nauman, Chute Gerdeman Principal and CMO, is a member of both the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association (RAMA) and the In-Store Marketing Institute (ISMI). He was recently invited to speak on behalf of Chute Gerdeman at the new M&M’S World® location in New York City for the local ISP chapter.

Elle Chute, co-founder and principal, was voted vice president of one of the largest ISP regional chapters including Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati. Her duties include creating new venues for bringing in speakers and sponsors that want to provide more support to the organization. She also develops ways to provide support for young creative talents. Elle also serves on the DDI Advisory Board.
