New Chuties.

Chute Gerdeman welcomes five new team members. Pete McIlroy is the newest addition to the marketing team, David Birnbaum, Erika Buchholz, and Julianne Wallace join the Design Development team and Connie Holland has been hired as Human Resources Coordinator.

Pete McILroy
Pete McIlroy
Vice President, New Business Development

Pete uses his 25+ years of sales and marketing experience to target, research, and develop new international business for Chute Gerdeman Retail. With his energy and passion for the retail design industry, Pete focuses on building long-lasting client relationships.

He believes that developing new business is an art rather than a science. Taking a long-term view, Pete is interested in developing a relationship versus simply making a sale. He has found that thinking beyond retail to connect with his client means success in the field. His insatiable appetite to explore new territory in terms of client culture and diversified buying behavior from country to country and region to region has helped him connect with potential clients around the world.

Pete graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Master’s in Business Administration.

David Birmbaum
David Birnbaum, AIA

David joins Chute Gerdeman Retail as a registered architect in the Design Development studio. With more than 17 years of experience in professional architectural design and implementation, his role is to coordinate the company’s architectural and engineering documentation and integrated construction services. His excellent communication skills, project management experience, and technical knowledge make him an asset to team members and clients—communicating client needs to the team and maintaining quality control of all design development documents.

David utilizes his project management experience to ensure design development documents are completely integrated into construction documents while also working with qualified general contractors to assemble detailed cost estimates. He conducts regular site visits and issues detailed field reports regarding construction progress in order to minimize delays and costs.

David is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He also earned a Master’s of Architecture from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a licensed architect in the state of Ohio.

Erika Buchholz
Designer, Design Development

With more than five years of experience in the design industry, Erika joins the Design Development team at Chute Gerdeman Retail to detail design development plans for each project. This includes design intent documentation for the environment, custom store fixtures and millwork, coordination with graphic design, lighting design, architectural and engineering consultants, and implementation coordination with vendors, fabricators, and contractors. Erika has worked extensively on Chute Gerdeman’s project with Hamleys.

Erika is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design. As a student, she was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and completed a five week workshop at Arcosanti in Mayer, Arizona. Arcosanti is an experimental town in the desert of Arizona, where Erika learned implementation skills first-hand while working on the construction site and in the metal shop.

Her strong work ethic and positive attitude, along with her design and retail experience, make her an invaluable asset to the Design Development team.
